INTRODUCTION

Albert Leung has made waves with his directorial debut, Stuntman (2024), a tribute to Hong Kong’s action cinema. Co-directed with his twin younger brother Herbert, the film earned Albert a Best New Director nomination and a Best Action Choreography nomination at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards, and won the Annual Anticipated Chinese Film Award at the 37th China Golden Rooster Awards. Stuntman also secured a Best Action Choreography nomination at the 61st Golden Horse Awards. It was the Opening Film at the 22nd Hong Kong Asian Film Festival and screened at festivals like the 44th Hawaii International Film Festival, the 25th Newport Beach Film Festival, Japan’s “Light and Tide: Hong Kong Cinema New Power” series, the 9th Vancouver Chinese Film Festival, the 2024 Melbourne Chinese Film Festival, the Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation 2024, and the Asian Film Awards Academy Making Waves Navigation of Hong Kong Cinema 2024.

Albert’s career began in 2006 with a standout role as the villainous Iron Head in Twins Mission, alongside Sammo Hung and Wu Jing. His stunt work and coordination on projects like Flying Tiger (2018) and Lovely Swords Girl (2019) sharpened his filmmaking skills. Returning to Hong Kong in 2006, Albert overcame industry challenges to win the 7th First Feature Film Initiative Award, which funded Stuntman. With a strong acting portfolio and a promising directorial debut, Albert continues to contribute to Hong Kong’s cinematic legacy.
